McAllen Overview
McAllen is located in the Lower Rio Grande Valley and only 7 miles from the International Bridge into Mexico. McAllen has developed a flourishing foreign trade zone and is an important port of entry. In 2009 The New Yorker featured McAllen in an article called “The Cost Conundrum.” It looked at issues revolving around the high cost of health care. McAllen was also a reference in the British television program called Supersize vs Superskinny. This show was about extreme eating and dieting lifestyles.
